Edina recognised at ADE Awards 2017

Edina Group are delighted to be recognised as a leading power generation specialist, jointly winning the Industrial and Commercial Category award with project entry Arla Foods Ltd, at the Association of Decentralised Energy (ADE) Awards ceremony 2015.

The awards took place yesterday evening (Wednesday 25th November) at the Grand Connaught Hotel, Convent Garden, London, following ADE’s annual Heat 2015 Conference. The Awards were attended by over 250 industry members and provided an opportunity for organisations and professionals to celebrate this years’ most innovative and energy efficient Combined Heat and Power (CHP) projects.

The judges commented “We chose this entry (Arla Foods) because it demonstrated a strong and integrated approach to onsite sustainability. The thinking behind what happens on site and how the waste is used to generate energy is very clever. It clearly shows the types of innovation that we need for the future.”

The project entry demonstrated Edina’s capabilities and technical expertise in designing and supplying a CHP plant that included an innovative natural gas / biogas integration system, allowing the generators to operate on natural gas only, or natural gas with the inclusion of a proportion of biogas to power the facility. Edina’s involvement in the project contributed significantly to Arla Food’s long term environmental strategy and their purpose built site at Aylesbury has become the world’s first zero carbon dairy production facility.

The award was presented by Tim Rotheray, ADE Director (pictured second from right) and ADE President, Lord Risby (far right) to Edina’s Joint Managing Director, Tony Fenton (second from left) and Sales Manager, Adam Bloom (third from left).

Edina’s Joint Managing Director Tony Fenton, commented “We are extremely delighted to be recognised as a leading CHP provider at this years’ award ceremony. The support offered by the ADE has provided a unique platform to showcase some of the most energy efficient and innovative CHP projects in industry, helping to promote the benefits of CHP to a wider audience.”

Edina Group were also the preferred CHP provider at South Humber Bank Power Station / Humber Energy, which jointly won the Industrial and Commercial Category. The highly commended Rampton Hospital for the Public Sector Award category, had also seen Edina Group supply and install the CHP MWM engine.

In addition to the above, Edina Group put forward seven project entries, of which, three went onto become shortlisted for an award.

In 2014, Edina Group won two industry awards which included the Industrial and Commercial award for their role in helping R&R Ice Cream overcome electricity supply issues, which allowed the company to expand their production facility. The second award was in the Campus, Community and Residential category for the involvement of a project for Liverpool University which involved a complex renovation of a derelict listed building to house a new CHP plant which will enable the University’s network to grow further.
