10.3MWe MWM TCG 3042 genset joins Edina’s power generation lineup
MWM, one of the world’s leading manufacturers in spark-ignition engines has announced its new 10.3MWe TCG 3042 gas engine and joins Edina’s product range of power generation solutions.
The new TCG 3042 gas engines are single-stage turbocharged, charge air cooled 20-cylinder engines that operate on natural gas. With an electrical efficiency of up to 48 percent and a total efficiency of up to 93 percent, the gas gensets achieve outputs of 9,830kWe to 10,300kWe. The use of a spark plug-operated pre-combustion chamber enables combustion with a high level of efficiency and low emissions.
Due to its modular design, the TCG 3042 is ready for installation immediately upon delivery and can accommodate a multiple genset configuration due to the space utilisation between gensets. Compared to conventional design, the TCG 3042 gas engine reduces its number of components by 40 percent, which results in reduced wear and tear parts and longer maintenance intervals.
The TCG 3042 gas engine is optimised for Combined Heat and Power (CHP) application or for Power Generation only projects. For CHP power plant application, the TCG 3042 can be optimised for summer and winter temperatures. Two differently designed coolant circuits that can be combined with three different thermodynamic engine layouts to deliver even more flexibility.
Edina CEO, Hugh Richmond, comments; “MWM is a world innovator in gas engine technology and as one of its largest customers, we are thrilled to welcome the TCG 3042 gas engine in our fleet of supplied, installed and maintained MWM gas engines.“
“Edina is one of few distributors selected to offer the new MWM TCG 3042 gas engine due to our capability in delivering full turnkey EPC contracts for power generation projects, principally within the peaking plant market, whereby Edina has amassed over 400MW electrical capacity in supplying balancing services to the grid in periods of system stress.”
Built on almost 150 years of innovation, MWM gas engines are designed for maximum electrical and thermal efficiency, low operating and service costs, and high reliability and availability. Thus, they achieve an efficiency of over 90%.
Edina is the official UK and Ireland distributor for MWM manufactured gas engines with outputs rated from 400kWe to 10,300kWe and is a leading supplier, installer and maintenance provider for decentralised gas-fueled power plants for Combined Heat and Power (CHP), Trigeneration and standby power application.
