Jul 23, 2018

Edina is delighted to receive the Anaerobic Digestion CHP Team Award 2018 at the UK AD & World Biogas Awards, which took place on Wednesday 11th July 2018 at the Vox Conference Centre.

The award, entitled ‘AD Team of the Year’, was presented to Edina by Radio 4’s Charlotte Smith, and recognised companies and individuals who have made the greatest contribution to delivering the benefits of Anaerobic Digestion (AD) and biogas across the UK and around the world.

Year-on-year, Edina has installed a record number of engines in the AD industry for combined heat and power (CHP) application achieving over 115MWe to date since 2017.  Edina’s in-house design, engineering, project management, commissioning and service departments optimise the generating equipment to ensure maximum plant efficiency, availability, flexibility and environmental sustainability.

Edina currently provides full service and maintenance support to over 130 contracted customers which benefit from Edina’s 24/7 remote monitoring coverage, responsive local MWM trained service engineers – who have a complete understanding of the MWM engine, and genuine MWM parts.  All of which are designed to minimise potential downtimes and maintain security of power at site.

Edina and organic waste treatment company Granville Eco Park were also highly commended within the ‘Making the Most of Biogas’ category award, alongside Edina’s Sales Manager for Biogas, Ian Farr, for the ‘AD Hero of the Year’ category.

Edina’s new CEO, Hugh Richmond, comments; “As one of the founding members of ADBA, Edina has continued to support and develop a mature AD industry both the UK and Ireland, advocating the benefits of waste-to-energy. Our priority now is to continue to develop in-roads into Australia and India, and take Edina’s established biogas knowledge and capabilities to the international arena.”

The ceremony was jointly organised by the UK Anaerobic Digestion & Bioresources Association (ADBA) and the World Biogas Association (WBA), and was held at the end of the first day of UK AD & World Biogas Expo 2018, the world’s largest tradeshow dedicated solely to AD and biogas.

ADBA Chief Executive, Charlotte Morton, said; “This ceremony was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the very best of the best in AD and biogas in the UK and beyond. The UK AD industry has had a difficult few years but there is definitely now light at the end of the tunnel, so this was a perfect moment to celebrate triumph in the face of adversity and to look forward to a bright new future for what is such an important industry for meeting the UK’s climate targets.”

WBA President, David Newman, said; “It was great to see people travel from all four corners of the globe to recognise excellence in the development of biogas technologies worldwide. There’s a huge amount we can learn from each other in terms of innovation and best practice, and the AD & Biogas Industry Awards gave us all the chance to hear about the most exciting projects in this growing global industry.”
