Decentralised Energy Awards - Edina finalist

The Decentralised Energy Awards 2019 nominations have now been announced and leading supplier, installer and maintenance provider Edina is delighted to be shortlisted across three category awards with Combined Heat and Power (CHP) projects at Mogden Sewage Treatment Works, Kerry Taste and Nutrition and the University of Hertfordshire.

Commercial Award

Edina’s 6MWe CHP plant at Mogden Sewage Treatment Works significantly improves plant serviceability and increases power generation by 47%, which reduces operational costs by £100,000 per week for Thames Water.  The site also benefits from a significant reduction in noise pollution and the plant can treat 50% more sewage to meet the demands of London’s population growth.

Industrial Award

Shortlisted for the ADE Awards Industrial category, Kerry Taste and Nutrition’s Yeast Factory in Central Scotland is one of the largest and most sophisticated facilities of its type in the world.The Edina installed 1.2MWe CHP plant reduces energy costs, maintains site resilience and produces good quality CHP contributing to Kerry’s sustainable corporate strategy.

Cities & Communities Award

Edina’s 1.2MWe CHP plant at the University of Hertfordshire is part of a wider initiative to reduce energy costs, carbon emissions and maintain security of power at site.The University’s energy centre includes a district heating scheme powered by the CHP plant to achieve BREEAM accreditation for its sustainable credentials.

The Decentralised Energy Awards are billed as the leading and most prestigious awards for those involved in decentralised energy.The ADE awards recognises and celebrates the people and projects showcasing innovative decentralised energy solutions designed around the needs of the user.

This year’s black-tie awards gala will take place at the Guildhall, London on Thursday 31st October and more information can be found by visiting the Association of Decentralised Energy.

The awards ceremony is an opportunity for industry to come together to celebrate the achievements made that have enabled communities and businesses to thrive.-
